How Do We Manufacture
Tempered Glass?

01Process

The tempering process consists of heating the glass sheet in a controlled environment to approximately 620-680°C, followed by rapid and uniform air quenching under pressure. This thermal cycle creates compressive stress on the surface and tensile stress within the core, giving the glass its superior strength and controlled breakage characteristics.

Tempered glass is 4 to 5 times stronger than untreated glass, offering increased resistance to mechanical impact and thermal stress. If broken, it shatters into small, blunt-edged fragments, significantly reducing the risk of injury.

The equipment used by TDC Glass is designed for tempering flat glass, including specialty glass types such as Low-E, enamelled, and ceramic-printed glass. Its advanced 20-zone convection system ensures uniform temperature distribution across the entire glass surface, minimizing the risk of distortion and preventing coating damage.

Safety Comes First

Tempered glass can naturally contain microscopic nickel sulfide (NiS) inclusions, invisible defects that may cause spontaneous breakage over time. To significantly reduce this risk, we offer the Heat Soak Test in accordance with EN 14179.

How Does It Work?

Tempered glass panels are placed in a dedicated furnace and maintained at a constant temperature of approximately 290°C for around 4-8 hours. During this process, panels containing critical NiS inclusions will break inside the furnace before installation, greatly reducing the risk of spontaneous breakage in service.
Although the Heat Soak Test cannot eliminate the risk entirely, it significantly lowers the probability of spontaneous glass breakage.

Why Does Tempering Quality Matter?

Benefits

Certified Safety

Every tempered glass panel produced by TDC Glass is marked in accordance with SR EN 12150-1, including the manufacturer's identification and the European standard, ensuring full traceability for construction documentation.

Compatibility with Coated Glass

Our advanced convection system enables the tempering of specialty coated glass, including Low-E and solar control glass, without damaging the coating. This is a critical requirement for façade and curtain wall projects.

Flexibility for Complex Projects

Our processing dimensions and production capacity allow us to manufacture large-format panels for façades, curtain walls, and architectural glazing, even for projects with demanding technical specifications.
